Do I dare write about something such as politics?

So, something which I've been thinking about for a while now...  Should I write about politics at all?

It's quite a controversial and heated subject, especially these days... and also perhaps THE most polarized topic in the world, with just about everyone and anyone gravitating over to this side or that one.  HOWEVER, I'm not one of those people; I plan to be as fair and balanced as possible; Left, Right, or anywhere in-between, I could call them out and comment on things as I see them.

I want to do my part to make this world a better place, and I'll go with the "whatever works" platform, not strictly Left or Right or whatever.  Also, my intention for this blog may be to do fictional writing for leisurely and entertainment purposes and to provide people with temporary escapes from Real Life, that doesn't mean I should go ignore the rest of the world while I'm at it.

(Besides, if I really wanted to go around whipping up outrage, well, that's what my other blog "The Daily Outrage" is for.)

What does anyone else have to say about this matter?

Apparently, I'm not the only one to consider "The Daily Outrage"...

In my previous post here at this blog, I floated my idea for a serious and/or satirical blog called "The Daily Outrage".  Apparently, I'm not the first one to think of this idea: Here is one called "The Daily Outrage", and then we've got this other blog here which doesn't have the word "the" at the beginning.  Fair enough, so someone else thought of it first, no big deal.

But now here is my own new blog, which I managed to make stand apart by sticking the word "news" in there.

Let's see where it goes from here!

Maybe I should run a blog called "The Daily Outrage" (or something...)

Hello again, everyone.

Just getting this thought out there: Maybe I should make some sort of blog called "The Daily Outrage" or something like that?

I've been contemplating this idea lately: Fear and anger drive so much attention (and therefore, so many pageviews for websites and blogs). Maybe I should keep a running tally on all the stupid and evil people in the world and all the bad things which they do?

And even then, should I make it all about real, serious things to be angry about, or should I mix some satire in there too?

Maybe both?

"Breaking Assad" (sketch)

Hello, everyone, this is my first actual artwork, if you can call it that.  I'll definitely revisit this once my Photoshop skills get better.
But first, a little background...
In the week before the "Breaking Bad" series finale, Barry Blitt, the cartoonist from THE NEW YORKER, did a magazine cover showing Walter White (Bryan Cranston) walking down into the laboratory to find Bashar Assad (the monstrous tyrant from Syria who is notorious for using chemical weapons on his own people) already messing around in the lab.  I almost immediately got this idea for a parody, "Breaking Assad" (and, as luck would have it, [Ar]senic is #33 on the periodic table!).
Now, I know it's been a month or so since this issue of THE NEW YORKER first hit the shelves (and "Breaking Bad" ended), but what can I say, I've been busy lately. I figured my choices were either (A.) wait until my Photoshop skills improved and post it then, or (B.) just post it now as a "sketch" and do the better Photoshop job later.  As you can see, I went with the latter, but at least now I got the idea and the concept out there.
Naturally, I would like to particularly credit Vince Gilligan and Bryan Cranston (from the series itself) and Barry Blitt (from THE NEW YORKER) for giving me the inspiration for this.  But as for Bashar Assad himself (assuming that he might be reading this from wherever he is)... no, not really.  No warm and fuzzy feelings for him!
As for this being my idea... if anyone wants to borrow or improve upon it, then I say go right ahead!  Let me put it this way: I promise I won't be nearly as possessive or jealous as Walter White was in the series when it came to his own accomplishments!  (Or as dangerous, for that matter...)
That is all for now.

P.S.  I would also like to thank my friend and fellow "BrBa" fan, who goes by AbdhitanMireen on DeviantArt, for her own feedback and input!

I really like "Breaking Bad", so expect a lot of it...

Hello again, everyone.

Yes, it's been a month or so since one of the greatest television series in the past few years of our time EVER came to a solid conclusion, but let me just get it out of my system and out of the way now, I really like Breaking Bad.  So much, in fact, that I feel the need to apologize for the cast and crew of the show for not being a more devoted fan[atic] who would meticulously comment on everything as every episode aired.  Hopefully, they'll forgive me for that.

Still, even if that wonderful series is now over, there are countless more things which can be discussed about it, as no doubt some people will be doing for years to come.  So, my thanks to everyone involved who made it.

But for now, I'll definitely be doing more stuff as it comes to mind.  I'll provide links to amazing related videos, write my own essays about the various characters (i.e. "Why I Don't Think Walter White Was Evil Enough"), and so on.  Hopefully later today or tomorrow, my first BrBa-related work will be shown to the world.  Here's a hint: It involves THE NEW YORKER and one of its recent cover illustrations...

That is all for now.

Veterans' Day, 2013

Today is Veterans' Day, 2013, and I couldn't go without mentioning it.

I don't have any flashy tricks or inspiring images to post this time around, but let me just do my part and say thank you to all those veterans still among us, all those brave and strong men and women, who have risked life and limb (and maybe sacrificed the latter) in defense of our country.  I wish I had even half the strength and fiber you fine folks do, for you may be made of much sterner stuff than me.  Count me among those who are grateful and appreciative.

...Besides, whenever I see or meet someone who has served our country in the military, I always be sure to thank them, regardless of whatever day on the calendar it is.  (Maybe, in that sense, every day should be Veteran's Day?)

Anyway, Happy Veterans' Day!

Please allow me to introduce myself...

...and no, I'm not a man of wealth and taste. (Apologies to The Rolling Stones and their song "Sympathy for the Devil" but I just couldn't resist making the joke.)

So, it's been 1 month since I first created this blog, but I have yet to make an official introduction.  (I blame it on Real Life.)

Anyway, here we go...

This is what I call the Stellar Stylus blog, where I, the still-unnamed author, post updates about my work for my readers.  I will either reveal my new name or choose an official pen name in time, but for now, let me just stick with anonymity.

I particularly enjoy science-fiction and fantasy, as well as action and adventure, but I can also branch out to other realms such as horror and weird fiction.  Don't forget historical fiction, too.  That is typically what I like to read, and it also happens to be what I like to write.

As for this little thing of mine called "Stellar Stylus", I figure it would be like my own "studio" for my works (and maybe if anyone wants to do adaptations in the future, it could be used for that).

Well, not much more to say here now, but I'll certainly divulge more about myself later!  Cheers!

Sincerelly,
StellarStylus

Testing, testing...

Greetings, ladies and gentlemen.

Believe it or not, this is the first official blog post I've ever done... ever.  It doesn't seem at all difficult.  I know that it's been nearly a month since I first created this blog, but hey, I've been busy with Real Life lately.  Don't worry, more to follow, all in good time...

I'll make a more proper introduction later, but for now, let me just try things out...

First, hyperlinks...
My Twitter account
My YouTube channel
My DeviantArt account
My FanFiction.Net account  (hey, don't laugh, maybe I want to write my own fanfiction from time to time!)
OK, that's good enough for now...  I'm going to make an introduction proper shortly...
